​​​​Hi, my name is Dr. Magda Szyrmer, but clients call me Dr. Magda. ​​​

I was born in Poland, but grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia. I knew I wanted to be a veterinarian since I was a child and grew up surrounded by a multitude of dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, and orphaned neighborhood wildlife that I would nurse back to health and later release. In high school, I worked as a technician at a local veterinary practice and volunteered at the SPCA. I completed my undergraduate degree at Princeton University and my veterinary medical degree at the University of Pennsylvania. I learned acupuncture at the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society based in Colorado.

My greatest interests within veterinary medicine include internal medicine and chronic diseases, behavioral medicine, nutritional medicine, holistic and alternative medicine. I believe that disease occurs when the body is imbalanced and healing can occur when it is returned to its natural homeostatic state, whether it be through nutritional therapy, homeopathics, acupuncture, herbs, or western medical treatments. I recently moved to San Francisco and look forward to meeting you and your pets!
