Dr. Ilana Strubel graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine and has been in general practice since 1995.
She is a recipient of the Jefferson Award for Public Service for her work with the pets of San Francisco's homeless population through Veterinary Street Outreach Services (VET SOS), an organization she founded in 2001.
In addition to her work with VET SOS, Dr. Strubel holds an extensive history of community service. She served four years as president of the Board of Directors of Pets Are Wonderful Support (PAWS), was a founding director on the Board of Rocket Dog Rescue, and currently serves on the Board of San Francisco Aid for Animals.
Dr. Strubel is a general practitioner with a special interest in treating her patients' entire well-being: body, mind, and quality of life. She participated in the Donald G. Low-CVMA Practitioner Fellowship with the UC Davis Behavior Service in 2005, and is currently a member of the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior.
She also completed training in Veterinary Spinal Manipulation Therapy at the Healing Oasis Wellness Center in Wisconsin in 2011 focusing on both functional neurology and chiropractic adjustments, and is a certified member of the College of Animal Chiropractors.
When she's not doing volunteer work or rescuing dachshunds, Dr. Strubel enjoys sea kayaking, knitting, spending time with her friends and family, her 5 rescued dogs, 20 year old cat, and her partner Michelle.
